SUPPORT TABULA RASA

“On the morning of Sunday the 17th of May 2020, the Albanian government demolished the National Theatre. The Teatri Kombëtar, an 80-year-old structure in the very heart of Tirana, was built in 1939 during the Italian occupation of the city. The keeper of much of Albania’s recent history, the Teatri Kombëtar played a huge part in the social and cultural life of the population throughout the years. In response to this act of extreme aggression, an act by the Albanian Prime Minister who made the decision to decapitate a Theatre, the TabulaRasa Initiative was born. We invite you to contribute and participate in the diffusion of this sad fact, by making an intervention, a small gesture, on the photograph attached. Our hope is that this will create sort of a litany, with the same image being repeated over and over, each with its particular artistic modification. In addition to this online and evolving space of solidarity, we aim to create a final publication of the work. However, as that this project is still in its infancy, the shape is still to be defined, at present we are considering postcards as a form which will keep sending the message.”

MANUALE DI SOPRAVVIVENZA ALL’ISOLAMENTO SOCIALE

THE COVID-19 SPRING BREAKERS (SUB ENG)

I made this video in this last fews days at home with Silvia, closed in quarantine in our studio, responding to the Video Artist Open Call “Plague and Locusts 2020″ by friends of Ephemereye. Take a look to the call if you want to take part, enjoy the video and #stayhome. It’s strange but it will pass.

THE COVID-19 SPRING BREAKERS (SUB ENG)
(3’00” – Milan, Italy)
https://youtu.be/qfU2z6xi-Bw
Directed, written & destroyed by Matteo Campulla

“Two artists leave Milan, a city struggling with the first covid-19 infections, for the week of contemporary art fairs in NY. In the same days the situation in Italy worsens day by day: Milan becomes a red zone, the “lockdown” begins and the flights for the return are canceled. Back just in time in a deserted city, after 13 days of quarantine, here is the direct testimony of isolation and artistic work during the covid-19.”

#videovirus | a video art marathon

Lino Strangis, Shivkumar , Sylvia Toy St.Louis, Andreas Mares, Marcantonio Lunardi, Eija Temiseva, Francesca Fini, Jaime Rguez, Sinasi Gunes, Silvia De Gennaro, Muriel Paraboni, Colette Copeland, Camille Escudero, Maria Korporal, Salvatore Insana, Gala Mirissa, Rrose Present, Abdou-Ganiou Dermani, Marcia Beatriz Granero, Matteo Campulla, Erik Tapia, Francesca Leoni, Guli Silberstein, José Vieira, Marina Fomenko, Elisabetta Di Sopra, Isabel Perez del Pulgar, Zatlo Cosic, Terry Flaxton, Igor Imhoff, Antonello Matarazzo, Albert Merino, Silvana Sferza, Apotropia, David Anthony Sant, Gerard Chauvin, Vadim Neviromsky.
