Vol. 04: “Geometry of Creation: Analysis of Anti-Rhythmic Structures”

Platform 101 has made a significant mark in Iran’s digital art scene with the launch of its latest exhibition, Vol. 04: “Geometry of Creation: Analysis of Anti-Rhythmic Structures,” held at E1 Art Gallery. This groundbreaking event showcases the work of 44 artists—23 from Iran and 21 from around the globe, representing 12 different countries. The exhibition is curated by Mohammad Ali Famori, founder of Platform 101, and Ramin Saeidian, a prominent art researcher.

As the biggest video art exhibition in Iran’s history, this event continues Platform 101’s mission to elevate digital art in the country, with a particular focus on glitch and fractal art, distinguished by a striking black-and-white aesthetic that emphasizes the core essence of the art form by stripping away decorative elements.

The opening reception generated overwhelming enthusiasm, filling the gallery with excitement and curiosity from an eager audience. Running until October 11, 2024, the exhibition explores the vital role of anti-rhythmic structures in the dynamic interplay of life, showcasing movement and transformation within fractal design through the lens of video art.

Since its founding in 2018, Platform 101 has committed itself to educating and engaging the public in the world of digital art. By spotlighting underrepresented styles like glitch and fractal art, the platform challenges traditional art norms and offers innovative perspectives on the beauty of imperfection and complexity.

Building on its pioneering legacy, which includes hosting Iran’s first glitch video art exhibition in 2019 featuring 27 international digital artists, Platform 101 continues to push boundaries and create opportunities for artists.

Mohammad Ali Famori shared that the collaborative curatorial process of Vol. 04: “Geometry of Creation with Ramin Saeidian took two years to complete. Famori, who also curated “Glitch in The Sacred Geometry” for Iran’s pavilion at “The Wrong Biennale”, emphasized the team’s dedication throughout the project. “We are thrilled to finally bring this exhibition to life, marking it as the largest video art showcase in Iran’s history,” said Famori. “This is the first time an exhibition in Iran has exclusively focused on fractal art, presented in two sections: generative coding art and videography.”

According to curators Ramin Saeidian and Mohammad Ali Famori, fractals are complex geometric patterns found in nature and mathematics, recognized by the repetition of a specific structure at various scales. These patterns symbolize harmony and balance in the world and can be observed in many natural phenomena, such as the formation of clouds, tree branches, and coastlines. Even when faced with disruption or flaw, fractals continue their repeating path. When these patterns encounter glitches or defects, their order is disrupted, yet they persist in their growth and evolution, revealing a unique beauty amidst the chaos.

Arezou Ramezani, Public Relations Manager and Curator Assistant, emphasizes, “Hosting such a high-quality exhibition that gathers talent from around the world is a unique event in Iran. Platform 101 is making an international impact in digital art.  we look forward to attracting more artists and potential collaborators in the future.

“Geometry of Creation: Analysis of Anti-Rhythmic Structures” promises to be a captivating experience for both seasoned art enthusiasts and newcomers. The public is warmly invited to witness this historic moment in Iranian digital art running until 11 October 2024.
